Can you afford to risk overspending on your energy?
4 February 2025

In our fast-paced world, simple acts of giving can easily be overlooked. Charities exist to make a difference, support others, and offer hope; however, they need financial resources to accomplish their missions. Funding is vital for charities to provide assistance to those in need. Without sufficient financial support, even the best causes struggle to help people effectively.

Many people misunderstand the connection between money and charity. Some believe that financial help may harm a charity's integrity. In reality, financial support empowers charities to achieve tangible results. It allows them to provide essential services such as shelter for the homeless, medical care, and educational resources for children in need. Money is key to transforming a charity's mission into real help.

In 2024, Utility Aid recovered over £1.2 million in energy overspends for its customers, predominantly charities and non-profits. Although recovering overspending can take time, the results are invaluable. This recovery enables funding to be directed toward important services that support those in need.

Utility Aid is committed to providing excellent aftercare and ethical practices, which has earned them several awards. They received the "Do the Right Thing" award at the TELCAs in 2024, the "Best Customer Service - Large Customers" award at the TELCAs in 2023, and the "TPI of the Year" award at the Energy Awards in 2023. Utility Aid stands out in a complicated market by managing energy details, allowing its customers to focus on their core missions.

Utility Aid upholds high standards for their customers' post-sale experience, ensuring that each customer has a dedicated Energy Specialist available for daily communication, along with a full account management team for smooth and stress-free energy management. Additionally, their bureau team validates every generated bill, thoroughly analysing it to identify any discrepancies, no matter how minor. These discrepancies are then investigated and corrected as necessary, with all overcharges refunded directly from the supplier to the customer.

A notable example of the vital work Utility Aid does involves a charity working in the voluntary sector that faced various account issues when Utility Aid took them on. This particular case remained open for a year and was worked on 300 times—more than once every working day of the year. The success story is that £43,000 was recovered in total, which went directly back to the customer. Although this required significant effort, the entire team takes great joy in the successes achieved at the end of these challenging battles.
